Movie weekend: Megamind and ATM

I found the animated film Megamind (Tom McGrath, 2010) funny and groundbreaking. But why do most of the reviewers in Rotten Tomatoes think otherwise? Perhaps because it was released just after Despicable Me? (4/5)

The Thai romantic-comedy movie ATM (Mes Tharatorn, 2012) is funny, but the slapstick-inspired humor is so dated. Some plotholes exist too, but perhaps the patchy story calls for that. (3/5)

    Hey Mark. I liked Megamind too, but I can't help but link it with Despicable Me. It's probably since their storylines are a drastic change from other super or animated movies. It's the anti-hero as hero. Villains as protagonists. And not really with a complete 180-degree change of heart. There's some affirmation of their "evil," but there needs to be some realization.

    I liked "ATM" because of its frenetic energy - plus I've always been partial to Thai films.
