[PR] -- Liberal Party senatorial candidate and definitely not trapo Ramon Magsaysay Jr. today stressed that 'good governance and servant leadership' can never be bought or paid. Like, totally.
Magsaysay made the remark as he reiterated that the presence of phenomenal actors Richard Yap aka 'Ser Chief' and Dingdong Dantes in his political ads were purely voluntary and pro bono.
"Yes, they were really phenomenal," claimed Magsaysay when asked why he used the adjective. "I've seen their performances and sampled them myself."
Magsaysay said he tapped 'Ser Chief' and Dantes in his campaign for the 2013 midterm elections compared to his previous runs to help him reach out to the youth and the masses.
"I got a Kapamilya and Kapuso to be my endorsers to reach to a wide spectrum of the masa. I chose no one from the Kapatid station because aintnobodygottimeforthat.jpg," said the 74-year-old candidate, dropping a wildly popular sample of netspeak to also court the geeks.
Last April, the unassuming but hugely popular Yap surprised the political arena and the entertainment industry when he cameout (sic) in a television advertisement endorsing Magsaysay Jr, son and namesake of the late President Ramon Magsaysay.
Magsaysay said that when both Yap and Dantes agreed to do a television ad for him, they were aware that there would be no payment or money involved.
"And yes, they are definitely endorsing me for free. I am not joking. I am telling the truth and nothing but the truth. You won't catch me lying. I have no deceit in my bones. Is water wet? Is the President a bachelor? My source is unimpeachable," Magsaysay said very very very convincingly.
Continued the former senator, "They told me it was okay for them to help me in my TV ad because they, too, believed in my untarnised integrity, leadership, and the laws that I have passed, such as the E-Commerce Law, the AFMA Law, the Anti-Money Laundering Act and my investigation into the P728 million fertilizer fund scam."
"And that proves I'm not senile yet even at my age, because I remember the laws I made, and the amount of that scandal. I can even tell you the numbers up to the second decimal place."
The former senator likewise recalled Yap's statement to him that he would extend all the help he can give in order to ensure the country's future through good governance which he believes Magsaysay can offer.
Yap joined Magsaysay in Cebu on Thursday to further boost Magsaysay's awareness among the Cebuano voters. Yap was born and raised in Cebu. Magsaysay is an adopted son of the province.
"I even have the adoption certificate to prove it. The province got up from its perch, grabbed a pencil, and signed it for me," Magsaysay reiterated even though no one asked.
